Coping with Hard Ground Reading Having Fun with your Dog in Summertime 3 minutes Next Keeping your Horse at Home

The schools are out and the summer holidays are in full swing, so for many dog owners they can enjoy some more family time with their four-legged friends. During the summer period there can be local activities to take part in as well as the longer, lighter evenings to enjoy with your Dog. In our latest blog Scientific Nutritional Products takes a look at things to do in the summertime with your dog!

Hit the Trail

The sunnier days and extended summer evenings can allow for longer dog walks and exploring different trails. Why not bring the family, pack a picnic and make a day of a dog walk. If your local walks and parks are well-trodden paths; dog owners can consult websites such as Forestry England or the Woodland Trust for inspiration of somewhere new to explore.

Swim Time

Some dogs love to swim with breeds such as labradors, beagles and spaniels known as notorious water lovers. Local streams and lakes, if they are safe, can be a lovely place for your dog to cool down and take a swim. For keen swimmers in some areas there are dedicated doggy pools which could be worth a visit!

Picture Perfect

Whether on our phones or displayed in frames we all love to have photographs of our beloved pets. Why not get them to strike a pose and take some snaps in the garden?

You could even enlist a professional photographer and organise a planned photoshoot with your four-legged friend and capture some 'picture perfect’ shots!

Its Show Time

Summertime is the season for fun dog shows. Dog shows are guaranteed to delight the whole family celebrating the joy they bring into our lives with a wide variety of dog breeds often taking part. Classes can include such as the waggiest tail, the best young handler or the best rescue dog. Preparing your dog for the class with a bath and a brush will ensure they look their best and remember a premium diet will mean they shine from the inside out.

A Trip to the Beach

If you have a dog friendly beach near you a summer holiday visit is a must for the bucket list. Many beaches allow dogs but some only at certain times of day so before you set off be sure to check the opening timings for canines and the tide times as well. If you are taking your dog to the beach make sure you bring plenty of water for them to drink as the combination of exercise and potential sun exposure without shade will mean it is vital they stay well-hydrated.
