Glucosamine HCL

Glucosamine is an amino sugar used to build tendons, ligaments, cartilage and synovial fluid (joint oil). It stimulates production of GAG’s (glucosaminoglycans) in synovial fluid to enhance lubrication. In addition to being a lubricant this fluid acts as a shock absorber cushioning the joint during exercise. Synovial fluid tends to become thinner with old age and wear and tear and thus loses some of its lubricating properties. Glucosamine is a soluble natural product obtained from crustacean shells. After being consumed it is absorbed through the wall of the intestine into the body. It is then attracted to the joint cells where it provides the raw material to build up synovial fluid. Joint-Right Supreme contains Glucosamine HCL which is the purest available form of glucosamine.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the most important glycosaminoglycans (GAG’s) playing a crucial role in the cushioning and lubrication of joints by increasing the viscosity of synovial fluid. It has been used for many years in injectable form, but is now also available as an oral supplement.

Chondroitin Sulphate

No quality joint supplement should be without it. Most bones end in cartilage, a plastic like material which lines the joints preventing bone grating against bone. If this lining wears out the joint becomes stiff and creaky. Chondroitin is chemically similar to glucosamine and is a major constituent of cartilage. Chondroitin sulphate works in synergy with glucosamine and the other ingredients to maintain a sound cartilage coating. It is a very expensive ingredient however and is often therefore omitted from many competitors products, or else included at a very low level.

MSM

MSM (Methylsulphonylmethane) is a naturally occurring form of organic sulphur vital for the building of joints, cartilage, tendons and ligaments. It therefore plays an important role supporting glucosamine and chondroitin in the maintenance of healthy joints. Many people feed MSM on its own to their horses but it is much better when combined with other supportive ingredients.

Omega 3 fatty acids

These essential fatty acids are well known for their nutritional benefits to joint health, helping to ease movement and aid the circulation, thus allowing the synovial fluid (joint oil) to flow freely over the joints working surfaces. Omega 3 has also been linked to a wide range of other health benefits including heart, eyes, skin, and brain health. There are also several different types of Omega 3 and Joint Right Supreme contains a blend of them from two separate sources, Green Lipped Mussel and Micronized Linseed Meal.

Green Lipped Mussel

New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel (Perna Canaliculus) is a rich source of Omega 3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs) including EPA, DHA and ETAs. Green lipped mussel also contains naturally occurring Chondroitin Sulphate, and thus brings a wide range of joint health benefits.

Micronized Whole Linseed Meal

Joint-Right Supreme contains cooked whole linseed, nature’s richest source of Omega 3 Alpha Linolenic acid (ALA). As well as being good for the joints other obvious benefits are a healthy skin and coat.

Lysine & Methionine

Lysine and Methionine are two sulphur based essential amino acids which have been added to support the body’s natural repair of connective tissue.

Antioxidants

Vitamins E and C nutritionally support the immune system by neutralising free radicals. Vitamin C, like MSM, is very important for maintaining joint tissues and is known to play a major role in making collagen.

Analytical Constituents

Composition

Micronized full fat linseed, Glucosamine HCL, Methylsulphonylmethane, Chondroitin sulphate, Green Lipped Mussel (Superna Canaliculus), Lysine HCL, DL Methionine, Hyaluronic acid & Vitamins.

Additives

Nutritional additives: Vitamin E (alpha tocopherol) (E307)[2,500mg/kg], Vitamin C (E300) [2,500mg/kg]

For Horses and Ponies (over 13 hands)

Initial loading period: Feed 50g. (3 heaped measures) for the first 10 days. This provides 15,000 mg of Glucosamine HCL, 3,000 mg of Chondroitin Sulphate, 100mg of HA, 10,000 mg of MSM and 3,000 mg Green Lipped Mussel per day

Thereafter feed 1 heaped measure per day as the optimum amount for long term maintenance.

Minimum maintenance: Half a measure per day.

For Ponies below 13 hands feed a half of the above amounts.

Individual requirements may vary and are best determined by observation.

A 1kg tub will last 20 days at loading level, 60 days at recommended maintenance level and 120 days at minimum maintenance level.

A 500g tub will last 10 days at loading level, 30 days at recommended maintenance level and 60 days at minimum maintenance level.
